Mohan Mali's debut one-man-show of watercolours was an indication
of his inherent craft, keen sense of light and sure handed draftmanship.
Spurred by the success of his first show, the seeds of conception for
'What Once was Great' were sown.
'Working Children Of Mumbai'
Having lived in Mumbai for years he could not ignore the existence of
working children in Mumbai that are seen at every nook and corner of the city.
The theme very close to his heart, was finally painted on canvas with
a one-man-show at Jehangir Art gallery in 1997.
He steers clear from debates about form,
content and medium; post structuralism
and narrative. Instead - he tells a story.
With candidness. And - wide eyed optimism. At present Mohan lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife Ashwini,
while his 19 year old twins Mallika and Malhar are playing
college tennis and studying in America.
